Although it was relatively quiet during the summer, there has been a noticeable uptick in activity throughout September.

Policy watch… Earlier this month (4 September), the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) banned former directors Toni Fox and David Price, and charged them with a collective £1.3m fine for pension transfer advice failings. More recently (28 September), the regulator fined Darren Reynolds of Active Wealth more than £2.2m and banned him from working in financial services, while his associate Andrew Deeney was fined £397,400 and also banned.  The watchdog also said the review of the advice/guidance boundary "may lead to a wholesale restructuring of the regulatory framework".
